Curse

I play lots of tabletop role-playing games, like D&D and BESM [anime RPG]. You know, with all the paper and dice.

I'm making a new BESM campaign set in the present.
It's going to be about Legion, a loosely-knit mercenary network that goes around investigating strange locations. They'll soon find themselves embroiled in an invisible war against Jax Vaun Coulter, a lich who plans to slowly dominate the country by corrupting what he sees as its fundamentals - religion.

I need suggestions on locales, cursed items, and monsters that I can use to challenge the players.
An example I thought of is a mansion at which a church party is being held. A mirror in on of the rooms has been cursed [hexed, lol] to spawn an exact likeness of people who look into it. The main difference is their personalities; the new ones have been stripped of their consciences. As they spawn dispose of their real selves and get others to to mirror, the situation soon becomes out of control.

Please make suggestions on any location or monster you think my group would find interesting. ^_^

Are you doing this independantly? Or are you developing it for a company? Because a scary gothic MMO would be the game of my dreams..

try www.darkeden.com/en its free and people play it but its full of hackers some of the people in there would love to talk about theyre gaming ideas since the game is ruined so much

I think that one of the places that you should incorporate would be like some sort of massive cathedral (like something you'd see in the vatican with the pope living in it and stuff) There you could have monsters who would be demons parading as ministers of whatever religion you make up and stuff like that. Sounds like an interesting idea and I think I might supply some more input.

This is a table-top RPG. It is played with character sheets and dice.

TheEPIC: It's not going to be obviously horror, but something a bit more subtle. Most encounters will start out normal, but will get creepier so slowly they won't notice it until they get into trouble.

I would love to use a cathedral. I even have an ending planned - the nun that has been guiding the party all along is actually a succubus and will sacrifice they child they were supposed to save upon the altar. This ritual will summon an enormous blood fiend, which will then proceed to tear the cathedral apart in hopes of taking the heroes down with him.
Any ideas on how they could get there?

You should make an RPG based of the Saw movies or something; that'd be awesome, hehe.

Perhaps on a serious note, I think a gothic like RPG would be middle runic Germany.
